Day 16: LeVar Burton Is The Champion of Reading Advocacy

There's so much of him that is involved in films that cultivated our history. LeVar Burton deserves to have his flowers today and every day for all of his contributions to African-American literacy and advocacy for reading.

If I ever write an autobiography, hands-down, LeVar Burton is the narrator for my childhood era. Aside from Mr. Roger's neighborhood and the 'Walk' song by the very fly pink pigs on Sesame Street, Reading is what I think of when I think of young budding me.


I just learned today that he is the author of two novels. I have always known him to be the best narrator ever and the most prominent ambassador for literacy. His voice makes up the fiber of our beings. When I say 'our', I mean millennials (although I'm pretty sure those that came before us and those that came after us celebrate his creative presence just as much.
