Day 17: Corrine Mann Admires Frances Harper Who Was Breaking Barriers When It Was Prohibited

Frances Harper published her early works during a time when reading and writing were illegal for African Americans. The vast majority of African Americas were still enslaved. That alone has inspired me to be fearless with my work.

Harper made history as the first black woman to publish a short story, and I'm a big fan of short story writing. I admire her many contributions to society, such as helping with the underground railroad and teaching.
