Day 3: Thou Shalt Embrace The Year of Shonda Rhimes

"I want to create shows where you can't fold laundry and watch tv."

At the beginning of this year, I resolved that I would immerse myself in my writing. I would live in it, love it and become it. This year would be the year of living my "Shonda Rhimes" life.

Shonda Rhimes is an abundance of inspiration and a potent reminder of what could happen to your written works if you just let go and allow your imagination to be at its best. She writes unapologetically and holds her audience.

I recall an interview around the time Scandal was dominating the airwaves and How to Get Away With Murder was premiering where she said something to the effect, "I want to create shows where you can't fold laundry and watch tv."

That energy of creation is what I mean when I say my 'Shonda Rhimes year.'
